Tools Of Engagement - Tessa Bailey

Enemies to lovers, HGTV elements, family dynamics

Plot:

Bethany Castle has her life meticulously organized and planned out. The only thing not going right is her dating life. Ready to step out from under her brother's shadow, she sets out to flip her own house outside of the family real estate business.

A television producer catches wind of the sibling rivalry and puts them on a flip-off competition show. Now Bethany has to rely on the only crew member from her brother's construction company willing to leave and help her - Wes Daniels. Let's just say the two have had words in the past and now are being forced to work closely and almost around the clock together. What could go wrong in this enemies to lovers romance?

Review:

After reading the second book of this series, Love Her or Lose Her, and seeing brief glimpses of Bethany and Wes, I was both excited and nervous. I was iffy on Love Her or Lose Her, but was instantly pulled to Wes and Bethany in it, so I had a feeling I would love their story and I was right! Both of them were so endearing and had great enemies to lover's energy. Pair great characters with Bailey’s dynamite writing and this was a 5-star book for me!

The competition reality show between Bethany and her brother added a fun dynamic to this series of home renovators. While I don’t think Bethany was ready to step out and do her home renovation, her brother being so dismissive of her abilities made you want to root for her. Bethany’s anxiousness and need to get things right all of the time was incredibly relatable and made me want to support her even more.

Wes was instantly a top-tier character for me. He was strong when necessary and caring when needed, but he also knew when to take a step back to let Bethany fight her own battles. His backstory tugged at the heartstrings and made him incredibly perceptive to the needs of everyone around him.

As much as I loved the spice between Bethany and Wes, Wes’s relationship raising his niece was the best part of this book. As someone who doesn’t usually like when children are part of books, I absolutely LOVED Laura. She was a lighthearted addition and brought out the best in both Wes and Bailey.

This book was the perfect trio of steamy, sweet, and funny. Mix in the heartwarming moments of found family and it was elevated to a 5 star read. I highly recommend this one!
