Review:
Those who know me, know I love a good hockey romance. This is my first from Teagan Hunter and it was such a great one!
Thoughts:
- I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, especially when the grump is the FMC, in this case Rory. I loved watching Lawson crack her icy exterior
Rory felt very relatable to me which made me love her. She doesn’t trust love - or people for that matter - very much but would put her life on the line for any pet in need
Lawson was just a fun character. Him with his puppy gave such cinnamon roll energy. I do wish we got to see more interaction with his mom and brother, maybe even his dad, to give him more depth
There were a few parts that were a little too mushy for my liking, but I enjoyed that Rory as a character also kind of cringed at them
I could have done without Lawson’s texts to his teammates. In general, I’m not a big fan of long text conversations in books, I think they tend to feel forced and this book just didn’t need them to advance the story
Great spice in this one! I love a good getaway cabin spice scene
One of the scenes toward the end really tugged on my love of old people and pets and I did not appreciate it
Overall, this was a super fun, spicy read! If you like hockey romances, cinnamon roll/black cat characters, and men with puppies, give this one a try!
Thank you Teagan Hunter and Valentine PR for my #gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
