Review:
Book club #2
I wanted so badly to give this book 5 stars, but ultimately there were just too many plot holes.
(+)
-I love a thriller with unreliable narrators and this was perfect
-As someone who prides themselves on guessing endings, this plot twist kept me on my toes
-Michaelides’ use of greek mythology and hidden clues is beautifully done
-The storyline was engaging and thrilling. It’s a page turner that I couldn’t put down
-Theo’s character arc was absolutely wild
(-)
-Too many underdeveloped characters. I feel like we only knew the two main characters. The rest felt sort of one-dimensional
-There were way too many plot holes and endings left untied, especially with Jean Felix and Max. My whole book club loved this book, but we still spent half of our meeting dissecting the plot holes
-Every woman in this book is written as a bad stereotype
-Alicia’s journal entries are written with word for word dialogue, not formatted as journal entries, which takes you out of the story a bit
Despite the plot holes, The Silent Patient still had a solid storyline and was an enjoyable read.
