The Existence of Amy - Lana Grace Riva

Review:

I’m struggling with how to rate this because although it is fiction, it feels like I just read the intimate thoughts of someone’s brain which made me a little uncomfortable albeit not in a bad way. So I’m going to hold off on a rating for now. This was an extremely interesting read on the topics of depression and OCD. Amy has a seemingly “normal” life from the looks of it, but inside, her mind is working against her in all ways possible. Her OCD controls her life from where she can sit, to who she can talk to, to what she can touch, and so much more.

This book provides a deep dive into the brain of someone with OCD and depression. It was extremely enlightening to read how seemingly “simple” tasks to some can be mountains for others. I thought this book was a great resource to remind people to show compassion to others because you never know what war they are fighting in their minds.
