Ice Bet - S.J. Sylvis

Review:

“You couldn’t live without a beating heart, and I was pretty certain I couldn’t live without her either.”

Oh my god. This book. If you’re a sports romance fan, S.J. Sylvis is your next favorite author! I loved the first Bexley U book, Weak Side, so Ice Bet was a highly anticipated read and it did not disappoint.

Thoughts:

-So many favorite tropes in this one: college hockey, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, forbidden romance, coach’s daughter

-Riley was such a well-developed character and I love how her history unfolded during the book. She was strong-willed and sassy, but also vulnerable and open

-Watching Asher go from resenting his assignment of protecting Riley to doing it so naturally was so much fun to read. Their cat-and-mouse game was hilarious and also incredibly tense as their attraction grew

-Sylvis’s choice for Riley to know about the ice bet made about her from the start instead of finding out mid-way through the book was unique and refreshing to read

-Watching Asher help Riley face her fears on the ice was incredibly heartwarming. I loved the way he found ways to work with her and how proud he was when she succeeded

-Team comradery is always one of my favorite parts of sports books and the team dynamic in this is so supportive and enjoyable. They had me smiling through the entire book

This is one of the best hockey romances I’ve read in a while. Their chemistry was off the charts while also being playful and protective. Do yourself a favor and read both books in the Bexley U universe!

Thank you S.J. Sylvis for a gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I can’t wait for Ford’s book next!
