Flirtation or Faceoff - Leah Brunner

a hand holding a kindle near a small waterfall with the book Bittersweet by Carrie Aarons on the screen

Review:

This was a sweet hockey romance. It had parts that were too corny for me, but overall, it was a cute fast read!

Thoughts:

- I loved the concept of Colby helping Noel with dating, it was a cute way for them to spend time together. I just wish there were more scenes like that because it felt like they talked about liking each other more than they actually hung out

- When they were together, their chemistry was just so fun! I laughed at their dialogue often

- Colby fell a little too quickly and it felt a little too “insta-love” on his side, but I did like how committed he was to pursuing her

- There were a lot of times when it felt like there wasn’t really anything happening

- I liked seeing Colby’s family dynamics with his dad but wish that it built up into more of an intense moment

- Noel was a sweet character. She was both secure and insecure in a very relatable way. I loved how nerdy she was and how much she embraced it

Overall, it was a decent, wholesome hockey read. There wasn’t any spice, so if you’re looking for that this one isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a sweet quick hockey read, give it a try!

Thank you Wordsmith Publicity and Leah Brunner for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
