Review:
It’s been a while since a romance book has moved me as much as this one. This book covered classic tropes of second-chance romance and forced proximity but delved deeper into complex family dynamics, immense grief and loss, and colossal heartache.
-Josiah and Yasmen’s chemistry, despite being divorced, was palpable. The love and respect they showed for their past was beautiful
-Ryan beautifully depicted a family who despite suffering a terrible loss, still chose to actively make their children their first priority. Yasmen and Josiah never let their relationship negatively affect their children
-I’m normally not a fan of kids in books, but I absolutely loved Deja and Kassim. They added so much to the pain of divorce and made the book feel more real
-I loved the exploration of therapy from so many different angles. It normalized therapy while also showing how men are often averse to it because society tells them it’s a sign of weakness. Ryan showed how helpful it could be once those walls are broken down
-I LOVE forced proximity and this had a *chefs kiss* forced proximity/only one-bed scene
-Every single side character in this book deserves their own full-length story
This book is the definition of a book that rips you apart and puts you back together. It beautifully explored how intense loss and grief can put pressure on a relationship and how loving someone is something both parties have to actively work towards each day. I sobbed through so much of it and could not recommend it more!
